Mock interviews in Bridge Labs let you run structured practice sessions that give candidates or students a realistic interview experience — complete with AI-generated feedback, scoring, and the ability to share results. This guide walks you through creating and configuring a mock session, from choosing your questions to reviewing responses.

Who this is for

Mock interviews in Bridge Labs are used by:
  • Career coaches running practice sessions for individual clients
  • Schools and universities preparing students for recruiting season at cohort scale
  • Bootcamps and training programs helping graduates prepare for job interviews
  • Staffing agencies pre-qualifying candidates before client introductions
If you’re a hiring team screening applicants, see Creating and Launching a Video Interview instead.

Before you begin

Make sure you have an active Bridge Labs account. Career coaches and educators typically use the Career Coach, School / University, or Bootcamp / Training organization type — if you haven’t set your organization type yet, you can update it in your account settings.

Steps

1

Create a new interview

From your Bridge Labs dashboard, click New Interview. Give the session a clear name that identifies the role or skill area being practiced — for example, “Product Manager Mock Interview” or “Software Engineering — Behavioral Round.”[ SCREENSHOT: New Interview button on dashboard ]
2

Select your questions

Add questions the same way you would for a screening interview. You can:For mock interviews, behavioral and situational questions tend to work best. Think about what the candidate will actually face in a real interview for their target role.[ SCREENSHOT: Question builder with sample mock interview questions ]
3

Configure retake settings

Unlike screening interviews — where candidates typically get one attempt — mock interviews often benefit from allowing retakes so candidates can practice and improve. In the Interview Settings panel, enable Allow Retakes and set a limit (e.g., 3 attempts per question). This lets the candidate revisit answers they’re not happy with.
If you want candidates to experience real interview conditions, leave retakes off for the first session and only enable them for deliberate practice rounds.

Set the scoring and feedback mode

In Scoring Settings, choose how you want responses evaluated:
  • AI Score + Feedback — Bridge AI scores each response and generates written feedback the candidate can read after submitting. This is the recommended setting for self-directed practice.
  • Manual Review — You review responses yourself and leave written feedback. Best for coached sessions where you want to provide personalized guidance.
  • Both — AI scores first, then you add your own comments on top. Useful for high-stakes preparation where you want a second layer of review.

Control result visibility

Decide whether candidates can see their scores and feedback immediately after submitting, or only after you’ve reviewed everything. In Sharing Settings, toggle Release Results to Candidate to:
  • Immediately — the candidate sees AI feedback as soon as they finish
  • After coach review — results are held until you manually release them
For group cohort sessions, holding results until after review lets you give everyone feedback at the same time.[ SCREENSHOT: Sharing settings with result release options ]
6

Share the mock interview link

Once your session is configured, click Publish to generate a shareable link. Send this link to your candidates, students, or clients.Recipients can complete the mock interview on any device — no account required. They record their video responses in their own time and submit when ready.
Each mock interview session generates a unique link. If you’re running the same practice session with multiple cohorts, duplicate the interview rather than reusing the same link — this keeps responses organized by group.

Reviewing responses and giving feedback

Once candidates submit their responses, they appear in the Candidates tab of your interview. From there you can:
  • Watch video recordings of each response
  • Read AI-generated scores and feedback
  • Add your own written comments per question
  • Release results to the candidate when ready
For a full walkthrough of the review process, see Reviewing and Evaluating Candidate Responses.

What happens next

After running a mock session, many coaches and educators use Bridge Labs to track progress over multiple rounds. Duplicate your interview to run the same set of questions again, then compare scores across attempts to measure improvement. If you’re working with a team or co-coaching with a colleague, see Collaborating with Your Team to add reviewers to your sessions.
